Around 12 months ago when Making plans for our current show, Copacabana, we heard of a wonderful opportunity to obtain sets of costumes for the show. A previous costumier to Mellows was closing their hire business meaning their entire stock, built up over decades, was going under the hammer. The committee set a budget and the lots were viewed online ahead of schedule, before Jean, Melvyn, Chris and Natasha arrived at the auction house in Nottingham.
After viewing the costumes first hand they realised what a wonderful investment this would be for the society and once bidding commenced Chris Towland secured many full sets of costumes often including leotards, head dresses and feathers for much lower prices than anticipated. As a result of this many full sets of elaborate costumes will be seen on stage during Copacabana 13 – 17 Jan 2015 at The Brewhouse Arts Centre (Box Office Tel: 01283 508100) as well as a number of one off costumes. We hope that we can hire them to other societies once our production is complete.

You will have seen some over our 120+ members on stage in our previous shows, but you might not be aware that we have a strong costume, properties, front of house and set building operation too-without which our casts would not be onstage at all.
We have an exciting calendar this year and we would love to see you at one of our Copacabana performances in January. If you’d like to join us as an on or off stage member please get in touch.
